Both Thursday and Friday were filled with classes. My first
classes, in fact!
The UK has a very different higher education system. To begin
with, it only takes three years to get a degree (instead of the typical four in
the US). This is because students don't have to take general education classes.
I COMPLETELY support this, and think it makes total sense (and not just because
Chemistry and 16th century history have brought down my GPA in the
past...).
It is also different in that you spend less time in class. You spend about two hours in the classroom for each class, each week. In the US it typically ranges from 3-4 hours. It may sound easier, but as a result, students are expected to put in more time outside of the classroom.
That being said, I certainly don't mind having four day weekends...every week...
