Here we go!

Oh. I'm on my way to London.

No...literally. As I write this I'm tens of thousands of feet above the ground, experiencing turbulence and dealing with classic "will it/won't it-work" airplane wifi.

It seems like I've been planning for this day for, well, ever. I admit that I didn't know I wanted to spend half of 2015 in London when I was five, but I've known I wanted to go abroad for many, many years.

Despite all the thought I put into it, I still found myself running around packing five minutes before (and maybe after) we were supposed to leave for the airport. The reality is that packing to live in another country for any significant period of time is hard

The plan was to bring one large, fifty-pound suitcase (maximum airlines will allow unless you want to pay outrageous fees), a messenger bag with in-flight essentials (electronics, some snacks, motion sickness medicine) and a small, cross-body pocket book (with passport, boarding pass, phone).

It didn't quite work out that way.

I brought all of those things, plus a backpack that I also checked. The backpack held all of my toiletries, which would have put the large suitcase over the weight limit. I knew the other plan was far too easy & good to be true.

My parents would tell you I packed too much...and I would have to agree. But, like I said, it's tough to think ahead through three seasons and a temperature range between 30-80 degrees. When I have to lug all of it by myself on public transportation tomorrow I will probably wish I brought less. However, I think once I make it to my flat I will be very happy with my choices.

I'm going to attempt to get some sleep . Otherwise this day will end up being pretty close to 48 hours long.
