It's really easy to find information on public transportation, hotels, tourist attractions, etc. However, there are a lot of little things no guidebooks, articles or previous travelers mention.
One of the biggest things I've noticed (that I had never heard about) is the lack of trash cans. There are almost NONE along the street. I've walked for an hour without coming across one...on several occasions.
You don't realize how much you need them until they aren't there.
It may sound silly, but plan ahead when it comes to your trash. Having a wrapper or something you can stick in your pocket and throw out later is great. Carrying a half-empty cup of cold coffee across the city is not.
